Support NYCO

Impact

Many musicians, subscribers, school children, seniors, students, families and young professional performers benefit from NYCO's contributions to our community and its culture.

NYCO supports a diverse and inclusive membership of over 200 musicians who perform in the NYCO Symphony Orchestra, NYCO Symphony Chorus, NYCO Chamber Players and NYCO Music Festival.

An impactful outreach program of free concerts performed in schools, community housing facilities, long-term care residences and community centres provides enrichment and learning opportunities to many groups of citizens.

Philosophy

The NYCO Society is a charitable non-for-profit organization dedicated to the performance of classical music encouraging participation and development among a large community membership, and appreciation and enrichment for a broad public. We strongly believe in our mission of bringing music to the community, and use revenue generated from our subscription concerts to enable us to offer free concerts in community centres, long-term care facilities and public schools.

In addition to the funds generated through our concert ticket sales, we also rely on donations made by you to fulfill this mandate.

History & Values

NYCO was founded in 1975 out of a creative need in the community to make music. Today the NYCO Society is still committed to the same founding values for musical enrichment and enjoyment in the community:

  • Participation
  • Inclusivity
  • Partnerships
  • Outreach and Service
  • Encouragement of Youth
  • Education and Mentorship
